Young Society: Mickey Factz Honda Commercial

Mickey Factz is Honda’s new spokesperson.  The official commercial is posted above. The national ad campaign is for the 2009 Honda Accord.  In addition to the commercial will be a complete online initiative centered on the site:

The site features a blog by Mickey Factz, music downloads and video clips from the online show “Rhymes and Reasons” spoken about in the commercial as his “popular online hip hop show.”
This is an amazing and interesting initiative on both ends of the spectrum. A major corporation featuring a new artist, not currently signed to a major label, in a major national advertising campaign. Honda is on the cutting edge tapping into the Internet and Mickey’s devoted online fan base. The commercial is actually loosely based on Mickey’s real life. Before he became a full time rapper he was studying law and actually worked as a paralegal. He did that while still balancing recording time and show performances until one day he decided to take a chance, drop it all, and do what he loved full time. And now look where he is today.

Mickey explains his role in the commercial : “I got paid to be an actor in the commercial and I got paid for my music to be in the commercial. So that’s two separate checks that I’m getting. I also get residuals on the commercial and if the commercial does well it gets extended. Right now it’s on a 3-month trial period. It’s a great situation and a great deal for me. It was a nice chunk of money.” (source)

The site features webisodes here is the first one:
