WEEN’s Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network: Don’t Judge Me Empower Me Tour Re-Cap

4

I had a great experience at the WEEN Don’t Judge Me Empower Me tour. Guests included Letoya Luckett, Lil Mama, Melyssa Ford, Alesha Renee, Teyana Taylor, Tracy Nguyen (PR exec), activist Maria Davis and others. I participated as a corespondent for WEENtv interviewing the girls and women as they entered the venue with high hopes and open minds. The turn out was great with females ranging in age from around 7 all the way to adult women. There were even a few men in the crowd. MC Lyte was the host, and she did an excellent job. The panels touched upon health, career development, relationships, financial literacy and health. This was just the first stop on the tour, I believe the next stop in Los Angeles in the Fall. Stay tuned at www.weenonline.org for more info, and if you are a female sign up. Say Rhonesha recommended you.

One of the advice bits that stood out to me was the relationship panel when Letoya Luckett brought up the point that the Bible says a man should SEEK his wife, which is why she is still single, because she stopped chasing these guys. The only guy on the panel, Hill Harper did not seem to think that was a realistic concept, and she also mentioned she created a list of everything she wants in a man and put it in God’s hands. I am all for going after what you want in life with full force, but maybe with love it is more traditional. I do think the man should pursue the woman, and that belief got clouded with my other ideals of going after what I want no matter what. So when it comes to guys, I’ll wait, I don’t have time to waste on the wrong guy anyway. Expand this post for MORE PICS and tid bits!

so happy that you drew that conclusion… while i think it takes two to tango when it comes to the whole relationship thing, a man must take the lead… that’s how i was raised… and you’re in the same boat with a whole lot of other smart people… ain’t no rush… love will come along in due time! in the meantime, keep urself focused on doing the right thing in god’s eyes!

Women need to be empowered more in general. They need to use their looks for good rather than use them for personal selfish persuits. When you get a moment check out:
