The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival Date Announced!

It’s going down June 20th this year!

We are now at the 5th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Wow, this makes me feel a bit old because I have been going since the 2nd annual, it’s hard to believe four years have passed between then and now. (hey RYAN!!)

The festival will be where it usually is: Fulton Ferry State Park.

Executive Director, Wes Jackson said: “Having the Festival in Empire Fulton Ferry [State Park] is one of the key factors that make us unique. We are the only major Hip-Hop cultural event and festival hosted in the heart of THE city.”

The festival just announced a partnership with Sirius/XM’s Subsoniq regarding the BHF ’09 “Show and Prove” MC competition. Subsoniq will serve as the official media partner for “Show and Prove” and the 5th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. “Show and Prove” semifinalists and finalists will be featured as Subsoniq’s Artist Of The Month. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite “Show and Prove” contestant by writing into or by checking out the Subsoniq site at Subsoniq is the voice of quality and progressive Hip-Hop on the Satellite radio giant. With an estimated audience of over 1 million, this partnership will give these up and coming MC’s nation wide and worldwide exposure.
Subsoniq hosts Kyle and KB are long time supporters of Brooklyn Bodega and The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival having been the Festival’s first hosts.

Also this year there will be a “second stage” added dedicated to local talent and up and coming talent. The second stage will be under the tent in the Tobacco Warehouse. The majority of the second stage talent will be some of the great artists who don’t win ‘Show and Prove.’
