Midwest word of the Week: Tennis Shoes

Tennis shoe- (n.) sneaker

“I am going to Foot Locker to buy some new tennis shoes.”

*note: personally I don’t get why or how tennis shoes can refer to a sneaker? What if you go to a sneaker event…is it called a ‘tennis shoe event’? I just don’t get this one…
