Greatness Runs in the Family

“The Obama presidency presents us with both an opportunity and a challenge,” said the Rev. David K. Brawley, of St. Paul Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn.

My dad is in today’s New York Times. The article is about the new generation of pastors in lieu of Obama’s presidency. They connect it citing the Rev Wright sermon and how it reflected upon Obama and how pastors of the “Joshua” generation feel about race issues today. The story opens with my dad and gets input from various pastors, professors and authors.

I especially liked this quote from my dad:

“The onus is now on the black church to use the iconic example of President Obama to challenge our own ranks,” he put it. “We have a president who looks like us. The question is, how much do we look like him?”
